Reindeer Thumbprint Ornaments

I found this cute idea for these Reindeer Thumbprint Ornaments on sassysites & thought they would be perfect to make for the Grandparents Christmas Tree's! I think they turned out so great. Super easy too! All we did was used Acriylic Paint for the Thumbprint & nose & a sharpie pen to draw on the antlers. I printed out vinyl for his name & year!

I generally don't take the time to sit down and read.. I'm usually multitasking and doing several things at a time.. But I was totally enthralled with this book! The way the Author describes the characters in great detail & sets the scene in amazing. I felt as if I was right there with them throughout the story! Here is a little bit about the Author: Clint G. Cox is a Plumber by trade that has severe Dyslexia. He is a motivational Speaker & has been featured on Disney Radio. Most of Christmas Notes was wrote on cut up two by fours and ripped up cardboard while he was on the job site..He was inspired to write the book when He was buried in paper work from the four businesses he owned back in 2009. When two weeks before Christmas his 8 year old daughter came up to him and said she was not that excited about the holiday. He knew it was his fault! He had not even taken the time to put up Christmas lights. That night the story line was formed for all three books. Christmas Notes has been ranked with Richard Paul Evens, and Glenn Becks' Christmas Books in the Deseret News this last week under new novels for the season.

Cinnamon Bowl Fillers

Bowl Fillers or Ornaments

Need something to Smell up your House? Well these are for you. I have these sitting on my kitchen table and every time I walk in the kitchen I smell them..

Cinnamon Applesauce Bowl Fillers:

Ingredients:
1 cup applesauce
1 cup cinnamon

Mix in a large bowl and stir until well blended. Work mixture in hands for several minutes to form a ball. If the mixture is to dry you can add more applesauce. If it’s too wet you can add a more cinnamon.

Knead ball on cinnamon sprinkled surface until it holds together well. Then, roll out using a rolling pin sprinkled with cinnamon. You can use your favorite cookie cutters, or templates that you’ve drawn yourself to cut out your shapes. As you can see by the picture, for this batch, I chose to use a template of some little primitive stars for our shapes. I like the ornaments to be a little bit thick. This helps keep them from breaking over the years.

Place ornaments on a cookie sheet that has been sprinkled with cinnamon. Use a drinking straw to cut out the little circle that you will use to hang your ornament.

Air dry for 24 to 48 hours – turning several times. You can also place the cookie sheet in a very low oven (around 200 degrees), which will help them dry much faster. Remember to turn several times.

Primitive Snowman Pop Ornaments

I seen some of these Snowman Pop Ornaments a few years back at a craft fair & I thought they were so cute that I had to make some for my snowman Tree. These would also look great in a gift basket or tied to a poem with some Snowman Soup.

Supplies needed:

Batting (Just scraps will do)
Coffee or Tea

Orange felt or embroidery floss

Black Embroidery floss

Stuffing

Small Black seed beads

Ribbon

Blush
Popsicle stick
Hot Glue

Instructions:
1- Coffee or Tea Stain Batting
2- Cut 2 circles the size you want (I used a drinking glass)
3- Sew on beads for eyes and sew mouth
4- Cut and Glue on felt for nose (or you could use orange embroidery floss and make your own)
5- Sew right sides together of circles leaving an opening  at the bottom and Turn and stuff with batting
6- Put Popsicle stick in bottom and hot glue shut. (Careful not to burn)
7- Blush Cheeks
8- Hot Glue on Ribbon Bow
9- Sew on embroidery floss hanger
10- Enjoy

Winter Blocks & My new Table Runner

I bought Christmas fabric last year and I was determined I was going to make Christmas Stockings with it... Well that didn't happen so I decided I would make a Table Runner instead.. I found a Tutorial at diary of a quilter that was super easy to follow and I am happy to report that I did the binding (just don't enlarge the picture) and cut the fabric on the bias..  Thanks to many youtube videos lol.

Salt Dough Ornaments

How fun are these?? My family had a great time making these Salt Dough Ornaments.. They are quite easy too.. My kind of crafting!

RECIPE
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Directions:

1. Mix salt and flour.
2. Add in half the water, then gradually add the remaining water.
3. Knead until the dough is smooth
4.  Roll out the dough on baking paper or floured counter top
5. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters or design your own.

Bake at 250 for 1-1 1/2 hr Make sure you don't burn them.
Let cool completely & paint. On the Candy Canes my daughter used glitter glue & the snowmen we used acrylic paint then modge podged them & sprinkled glitter on them.

Little Snowman

I purchased this sweet Snowman at a Retirement Home Craft Fair. I love it, just knowing one of the Residents there made it, makes it so much more special.

Red-Nosed Reindeer Lollipops

I found this simple Reindeer Lollipop idea on http://www.familyfun.go.com/

With its lollipop head, pipe cleaner antlers, and googly eyes, this treat is part craft project, part holiday sweet. Kids can easily make a whole herd for classmates and teachers.

Unwrap the lollipop and cover it again with plastic wrap. Secure it at the base with clear tape. Bend the pipe cleaner in half around the base of the pop and shape the ends into antlers. Thread the bell onto a 10-inch length of red ribbon and tie it around the reindeer's neck. Stick on the googly eyes and attach the pom-pom nose with double-sided tape.

Yea the tree is up!!!

Well our Christmas Tree has been up since a few days before Thanksgiving & it's a good thing it was.. I've been down & out with a narley cold that won't go away!! We actually have 2 tree's. We have a smaller tree in our Living Room always decorated in Snowmen.. and a big tree in our Family Room where we gather at Christmas Time. Here are a few new Snowman ornaments I bought at a craft fair this year to add to our tree.

My family has started our Christmas Jar for this year. Last year I bought this book and Ted and I and the kids read it together. If you haven't read the book "Christmas Jars" you must. My family loves to do things for others, so we are excited to get this jar filled up so we can help someone in need this Christmas.

Felt Crafts

My Daughter bought this cute felt Penguin & Cowboy Boot at a craft fair. She wants to make them for her friends for Christmas next year & fill them with candy. They are just glued together and a slit is cut in the back. The Boot could also be used for a Party Favor too!

Salt Shaker Angel Ornament

While taking down our Christmas tree I found my Salt Shaker Angel Ornament. She looks a little ruffed up as she must have fallen in between some branches and was MIA. Anyway this is one of my favorite ornaments. It is made with a mini salt shaker I found at walmart. The second picture shows her head with the top to the salt shaker.

Live Nativity

Our Family really enjoyed going and seeing the Live Nativity Scene right across the street from our house. (Sorry for the lines in the Pic. It taken with a cell phone) They also had a huge Camel that the kids thought was so cool!
